Children on the Internet

Over the last few years can be seen that in Poland crimes committed via the Internet with harm to children are becoming more frequent and alarming phenomenon . Lack of awareness of children and parents of the risks associated with uncontrolled and unrestricted use of the Internet, the widespread use of social networking sites in interpersonal relationships, anonymity of perpetrators and continuous technological advances are just some of the reasons for the growth of cybercrime , whose victims are children. The offenses of distribution, producing child pornography, grooming , insult, stalking , or other committed through the Internet , when the victim is a child , can have a devastating effect on his or her health and psychological and social development. Therefore, it is extremely important to find efficient and effective tools (including legal tools) and techniques for the detection and punishment of the perpetrators and prevention of cybercrime.

Analysis of files of finally concluded criminal cases will realistically assess the degree of crime detection and cooperation of Internet service providers and operators with judicial authorities and law enforcement, as well as allow the indication of possible evidentiary problems with regard to crimes committed on the Internet to the detriment of minors. Such an evaluation may become the basis for constructing normative and practical conclusions and postulates de lege ferenda.
